Douglas Bader Young Aviators Days

The 2009 Douglas Bader Young Aviators Days at White Waltham and R.A.F. Kinloss have both taken place and were, as always, greatly enjoyed by all concerned. The Douglas Bader Foundation is very grateful to all involved at both venues who so generously gave their help, their fuel and, so willingly and unstintingly, their time, to make these events such unforgettable days out for the children and their families.

This very popular programme will continue  and we are hoping to add more venues in 2010. Please watch this space for further news.

The Douglas Bader Young Aviators’ Day at White Waltham on Sunday 14th June 2009 took place in glorious sunshine and was a huge success. Details of the day with some photographs can now be viewed by clicking the following link:

Those who attended The Douglas Bader Young Aviators’ Day at R.A.F. Kinloss on Saturday 8th August 2009 had a fantastic time. A report from R.A.F. Kinloss can be seen by clicking on the following link:

One young flier, Louis Stephen has sent in a personal thank you for his day at R.A.F. Kinloss. Please click here to read Louis’s letter, which really brings home what these Douglas Bader Young Aviator Days are all about.

The purpose of these events is to provide youngsters between 6-16 years of age with a physical disability, with the opportunity of experiencing flight in a light aircraft as well as a fun day for all of their families. Keith Delderfield, Director of Operations of The Douglas Bader Foundation said of the 2009 Young Aviators’ Days: “previous similar events have always proved enormously successful and, thanks to the generosity of The Light Fund who have provided sponsorship for the two 2009 dates announced so far, and to the co-operation and enthusiasm of our friends at both White Waltham and RAF Kinloss, I am sure that the 2009 Young Aviators Days will be just as good if not better”.

Onwards and upwards for 2010!
